FAQ – In the past, autosomal DNA could not be used for genealogy. What has changed?

The knowledge being gained in the field of genetics is continually increasing, and genetic tests are rapidly improving.  More data points (known as loci) are available and the price of testing has dropped for new technologies.  Now a microarray chip is available that offers a genealogical resolution with enough data points that are tested for autosomal DNA at a price that makes it a good value.
