FAQ – Are we related to the Rocky River Morrison family?

Both families came to America around 1730 and settle in Lancaster County, PA.  Around 1750, the next generation of both families moved to Rowan County, NC.  The area the Rocky River Morrison’s settled in is now Cabbarus County.  The area our family settled in is now Iredell County.  DNA has shown that our families are not closely related.  The Rocky River Morrison Family is Group A in the Morrison DNA Project.  Our family is Group Q.

Note: Because both families have lived together in the same general area for over 200 year – there are many places where the two families intersect – just not within the Morrison-Q paternal line.
