{"id":163,"date":"2010-10-01T07:40:30","date_gmt":"2010-10-01T11:40:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iredellmorrison.com\/wp\/?p=163"},"modified":"2013-05-09T08:10:18","modified_gmt":"2013-05-09T12:10:18","slug":"rev-war-pension-of-john-morrison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morrison-q.com\/wp\/?p=163","title":{"rendered":"Rev War Pension of John Morrison"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page-restrict-output\"><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">NOTES FROM REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSION STATEMENT Of JOHN MORRISON<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">These brief notes were taken from the Revolutionary War Pension Statement of John Morrison of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Iredell County<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">North Carolina<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, #W17171.\u00a0 John is a man referred to as \u201cRevolutionary John\u201d among <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Iredell<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: small;\">County<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> genealogists today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Toward the end of his statement, John said, \u201cI moved an orphan boy into N Carolina Rowan County (now <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Iredell<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: small;\">County<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">)\u2026\u201d\u00a0 Further, he said he was born \u201cCounty of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Lancaster<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> State <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pennsylvania<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> on <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Nov. 11, 1743<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">In an addendum of 1843, in which John\u2019s widow Sarah Morrison made application for receipt of John\u2019s pension, Sarah stated she was then 88 years of age and had married the last part of December 1771.\u00a0 Thus she was born about 1755, and was married at about 16 years of age.\u00a0 Then there is a copy from the family Bible of the family statistics, which include John\u2019s date of death, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">July 9, 1835<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.\u00a0 His children are listed as:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">?<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Morrison<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1772<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">?<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1774<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Margaret<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Morrison<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1777<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">William<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Morrison<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1779<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">James<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Morrison<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1781<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">John<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Morrison<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">born 1783<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">These first must have been Thomas and Henry, as listed in some online family trees.\u00a0 I saw nothing of three later children, Andrew, Robert, and Elizabeth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">There was no mention of the Potts family nor was Sarah\u2019s maiden name entered in the document.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">John A.
