To My Ancestors<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Why do I yearn to learn about all of my Ancestors?<\/p>\n

Because I carry a small part of each of them around with me everyday,<\/p>\n

Together they make up the sum of my DNA.<\/p>\n

So I search for them,<\/p>\n

When I first started to look,<\/p>\n

I searched in Libraries and Courthouses,<\/p>\n

Thumbing through many a book,<\/p>\n

When were you born and where you were from?<\/p>\n

These are mysteries,<\/p>\n

To be discovered by reading many interesting histories,<\/p>\n

Now there is the Internet,<\/p>\n

And with a click of the mouse,<\/p>\n

I can bring you into my house,<\/p>\n

I also had my DNA tested,<\/p>\n

To try and learn where you might have rested,<\/p>\n

What hardships and triumphs did you incur in your life?<\/p>\n

Was it filled with sorrow and strife?<\/p>\n

Or were you one of the lucky few,<\/p>\n

That prospered and grew,<\/p>\n

For those of you that made the long and arduous journey,<\/p>\n

Across the open sea,<\/p>\n

Was it all you thought it would be?<\/p>\n

The decision to come to a new land,<\/p>\n

Whether by choice or necessity,<\/p>\n

The sacrifices you must have endured,<\/p>\n

Has not gone unnoticed,<\/p>\n

Although you were once known,<\/p>\n

But all to soon forgotten,<\/p>\n

It is my hope that I can find you once again,<\/p>\n

And lift you up off the dark and dusty pages of obscurity,<\/p>\n

And share your life\u2019s lessons, triumphs and defeats to others,<\/p>\n

Who now enjoy the freedoms and comforts,<\/p>\n

That would not have been if not for all of you.<\/p>\n
