Probably not – many researchers have assigned the year of 1760 as being the death year of our immigrant James Morrison. It is actually a date of a will for a different James Morrison that died in Chester Co., PA , Dec 17, 1766. He married Mary Newlin. She was born abt 1722 and died in 1777, in Chester County, PA. This Mary is sometimes attached to our brother James Morrison b. abt 1702, she clearly is not the right Mary. This James and Mary had at least 10 children, their names were Esther, Nathaniel, Robert, Agnes, Joseph, Mary, James, Elizabeth, Jane & John. As you can see, they do not match up with the names of the known children of our James & Mary (maiden name not known) Morrison, who both died in Rowan County, North Carolina, both left wills naming their children, different than that of the couple mentioned above.
Therefore our Immigrant James Morrison is more likely to have died sometime before 1750, the reason being, it is doubtful the three remaining brothers, James, William and Andrew (brother Thomas dying in 1746) would have moved to North Carolina while leaving an aged father behind in Lancaster County, PA.
