Direct descendants of immigrant James Morrison gathered for the quarterly Carolina Region luncheon at the Boxcar Grille in Statesville, NC, on April 1, 2017. Coit Morrison represented the line of James. The line of Andrew was represented by James “Jim” W. Morrison, who was visiting from Illinois. Representing the line of Thomas were Rene Bryson and her husband Terry, Barbara Ross, James Dean Morrison, and John Morrison and his wife Sue from Missouri. Also in attendance was Catherine Morrison, the wife of Milton Morrison who is from the line of William.
Coit welcomed and introduced the newest members of Morrison-Q, Barbara Ross (first cousin of Rene Bryson) and James Dean Morrison. Coit mentioned the new meeting location for the Morrison-Q Gathering at Mountain Lake Ranch in Danridge, TN, July 13-16, 2017. This is a great opportunity to learn more about your heritage and enjoy the fellowship of your Morrison relatives. Jim Morrison spoke about a project he has been working on for two years to document that Morrisons have been in America since 1730. He noted that Morrsions played an important role in the building of our country. Jim went on to tell how he is tracking the different occupations of the Morrisons and shared some job-related statistics with the group.
John Morrison told everyone how much he and Sue have enjoyed their stay in North Carolina and have appreciated their visits with Morrison family members in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Catherine Morrison presented a Show & Tell of a family project she has been working on.
The next Carolina Region Quarterly Lunch will be in October 2017.
